If the Conservatives can find the money to raise nurses

"If the Conservatives can find the money to raise nurses' wages, they should slash bankers' taxes instead."

Instead of doing everything in his power to stop the strikes from happening, Health Secretary Steve Barclay asserts that a pay increase for nurses is "unaffordable."

It is clear that nurses need a pay increase when they can't afford to take the bus to work and must rely on food banks to feed their family.

One in nine of the workforce, or 40,000 nurses, have left the NHS in the past year due, in part, to low pay.

For the first time in its 106-year history, the RCN in England is now engaging in strike action because Tory ministers have refused to acknowledge its predicament.

The fact that the RCN was forced to make this decision is shameful. Steve Barclay, the secretary of health, should take every precaution to stop the strikes from happening.

He has heightened tensions by ignoring union demands rather than requesting urgent negotiations. He says that the increase is "unaffordable."

Priorities, not costs, are important here.

If Chancellor Jeremy Hunt can raise nurses' wages, he can also find the money to lower bankers' taxes.

The staff who risked their lives during COVID and work every day to care for patients would be valued if the Tories valued the NHS.

As time goes on, more and more allegations of bullying by Dominic Raab surface.

Three claims against the Justice Secretary are the subject of an investigation, but this may only be the beginning.

The Ministry of Justice has reportedly received a "inundation" of complaints, according to the BBC.

When only the Prime Minister can determine the terms of reference and serves as the final arbiter of the conclusions, the "independent" investigation Rishi Sunak authorized is anything but that.
